Forty-six years to the day the US men’s hockey team paved the way to Olympic gold with a surprise victory, Team USA has won gold again, this time with a surprise surprise.

Jack Hughes scored one minute, 41 seconds into overtime, shooting between the legs of goalkeeper Jordan Binington to beat Canada 2-1 in overtime.

“This is about our country right now. I love the USA,” Hughes told NBC after the game. “I love my players.”

It marked only the third time US men have won Olympic gold, following the victory in 1960 and the “Miracle on Ice” team that shocked the Soviet Union on Feb. 22, 1980, later defeating Finland in the gold medal game.

Law enforcement officers shot and killed an armed man trying to enter Mar-a-Lago, the Secret Service said

US Secret Service agents and a deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office shot and killed a man who entered a protected area at Mar-a-Lago “with what appears to be a gun and a gas can,” the Secret Service announced Sunday.

Two law enforcement sources identified the suspect to NBC News as Austin Tucker Martin, a 21-year-old North Carolina man.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said two Secret Service agents went to investigate after a security detail discovered someone had entered the Florida club’s property.

“They were confronted by a white male who was carrying gas and a gun,” Bradshaw said. “He was ordered to drop the two weapons he had, when he put down the gas, he raised the gun and fired.”

President Donald Trump said raising his recently announced global tax rate to 15%less than a day after announcing a 10% global job.

Trump is implementing the new tariffs under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which is an exception to the law under which the tariffs previously set were illegal.

Under the law, tariffs can last up to 150 days, after which Congress may have to act to extend them. It is unclear whether the administration can immediately resume work with another executive order after the deadline expires.
