Taylor Frankie Paul was seen attacking her ex-boyfriend with a chair in a newly released video

A new video released Thursday shows Taylor Frankie Paul attacking her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, in front of her daughter three years ago.

Shortly after the video was published, a Disney spokesperson confirmed Thursday that they had pulled Taylor’s season of “The Bachelorette,” which was set to premiere Sunday.

“Due to the newly released video that surfaced today, we have made the decision not to proceed with a new season of ‘The Bachelorette’ at this time, and to focus on supporting the family,” a spokesperson for Disney Entertainment Television said.

The video, published by TMZ, appears to have been recorded by Mortensen and shows Paul pushing and kicking Mortensen as he repeatedly asks him to stop and “let me go.” The recording, which was not filmed and which led to the video’s debut, reportedly shows the scene where Paul was arrested in 2023, according to TMZ.

Paul was charged with assault, criminal mischief and domestic violence in the presence of a child in the 2023 incident. Court records show Paul pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in August 2025, and four other charges were dismissed with prejudice.

“I’m going to have my truth,” Paul said in a phone interview with NBC News after the video was released.

NBC News has not independently verified the TMZ video or viewed the original full video.

Police bodycam video of Paul’s arrest in the case was played in the first-ever episode of “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” a Hulu original series that follows a group of Utah Mormon mothers who are famous for an online cult known as “MomTok.”

There are no public charges against Mortensen yet.

In the video of the incident, Paul is also seen throwing three barstools at Mortensen. After the chair was thrown, his daughter, who was nearby on the couch during the fight, was heard crying.

“This is called physical abuse,” Mortensen said in the video. When Paul starts throwing chairs at Mortensen, he is heard saying, “Your daughter is here.”

The video is cited in Paul’s 2023 lawsuit, which notes that Mortensen had “red and swollen eyes, a swollen elbow, bruises on his fingers, and scars on his neck” from the incident. The case also reveals that in this video, Paul’s daughter was hit on the head while she was sleeping on the couch.

A spokesperson for Paul told NBC News on Thursday, after TMZ released the video, that the recording was “the latest episode of [Mortensen’s] a relentless, desperate, attention-seeking, and hurtful campaign to hurt Taylor without regard for the consequences to their child.”

“Releasing an old video, easily out of context, on their son’s birthday is a shameful attempt to disrupt his behavior,” added the spokesperson. “Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who he is and sadly, many will recognize this deception, both in his actions on the show, and in their own experiences.”

Mortensen did not immediately respond to multiple requests for comment on the video. ABC and Hulu also did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the video.

At a March 2023 mental health examination in Paul’s case, he explained that the argument happened after a girls’ night at a friend’s house, where he “drank vodka, however, he doesn’t remember exactly how much.”

She explained that she asked Mortensen to pick her up after she started thinking about how she had “ruined” her family after her divorce. The test says that Paul said that his feelings became worse in this case when he thought about “the recent ectopic pregnancy (which reportedly happened a few days before the incident).

In his examination, Paul said he did not remember much after the two arrived home, but he read the incident report which told him that “he took three bar stools and threw them in the direction of his boyfriend.”

“Both children were asleep, her son is upstairs in his room, and her daughter is sleeping on the sofa downstairs (where the incident happened),” said the mental health report. “Ms. Paul reported that her daughter woke up after or during the altercation (and reported that she checked to make sure her daughter was okay.”

The examination added that Paul said he did not find any signs that his daughter had been beaten. However, the criminal complaint states that Paul’s daughter was hit on the head with a metal chair and “she was heard crying after being hit with this tool” in the video of the incident.

During the next video, the officer was told that Paul’s daughter “had a goose egg on her head, which was painful.” A probable cause affidavit notes that when police arrived at the home, another officer saw Paul and Mortensen “pushed” him.

A mental health evaluation recommended that Paul attend a parenting class to “learn how to manage stress and anxiety around his children” and that he would benefit from a “Key Life Class to get some information/education about alcohol and its side effects and consequences.”

The test also shows that at the time, Paul was seeing a therapist regularly and that the counselor said he was “a person with a drinking problem.” It also notes that Paul has “borderline anxiety” and “low levels of depression.”

The case file shows that Paul completed two recommended courses.

The video comes days after reports of a domestic violence incident involving both Paul and Mortensen.

Three of the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter, told NBC News that there is an “ongoing investigation” involving the newly engaged couple. The sources declined to provide further details about the record investigation.

The West Jordan Police Department in Utah confirmed to NBC News on Wednesday that the department had received a domestic violence call involving Paul but declined to provide details on the allegations or any charges. They also did not know the exact date or time of the reported incident.

The spokesperson of the department said that the detectives are busy to find out the facts of this case.

The Draper Police Department in Utah told People earlier this week that there is a “domestic assault investigation” open regarding Paul and Mortensen and that “allegations have been made on both sides.” A police spokesperson said: “Those involved are being contacted [Feb] 24 and 25.”

Contacted by NBC News on Monday, the police department declined to confirm reports of a domestic dispute, saying its practice is “not to release information related to an ongoing investigation.”

Sources who spoke to NBC News also confirmed reports that “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” Hulu’s reality show, said Paul and Mortensen had gone public, halting filming amid the allegations.

Another source told NBC News that the cast of “Mormon Wives” has unanimously decided to take a break from filming for the time being.

A source close to Paul, who spoke to NBC News on Tuesday, said the “MomTok” founder was trying to keep the investigation private because of the impact it would have on his children, his family and his future. Instead, the source said, Paul was trying to focus everything on “The Bachelorette.”

Paul “needs help,” the source said, adding that the cast is hoping production can stop long enough for him to get the care he needs. That’s where production stands, the source said. It is unclear when filming will resume.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at (800) 799-SAFE (7233), or go to www.thehotline.org to find out more. States often have domestic violence hotlines.
