Trump will host King Charles, members of the Dutch royal family on separate visits

Washington – It’s not a palace, but next month the White House will be occupied by royal officials.

In separate visits, President Trump plans to host monarchs from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands next month. King Charles III will visit in April, a source told CBS News, but no other details about the visit were available. Mr. Trump visited London last September on a state visit, and I visited a state dinner hosted by Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle outside London and attended by Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales.

During a separate visit in June to the Netherlands, the president stayed with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima at Huis ten Bosch Palace, the royal residence in The Hague. Next month, the Dutch royal couple are scheduled to spend the night at the White House during their visit to Washington. Their trip includes stops in Philadelphia and Miami, according to the Dutch National Information Service, or RVD, which added the main purpose of the working visit is “to emphasize economic relations.”

Staying overnight at the White House is rare for world leaders, who often stay across the street at Blair House, which was purchased by the US government during World War II.

The visit comes ahead of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the former Dutch and British colonies. However, tourism is on the rise strong relationship to mr. Trump and European leaders, some of whom are strongly opposed to war with Iran and his attempts to take over Greenland.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said “Look at the Nation and Margaret Brennan“On Sunday that he understood that the strikes on Iran were launched without the knowledge of Europe for the sake of “safety and security.”

“It makes sense that European countries need a few weeks to come together,” Rutte said on Sunday. “But at this time, the good news is this, that since Thursday, 22 countries, most of them NATO, but also Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Bahrain, UAE, have come together to answer three questions, what do we need? When do we need it? And where do we need it? These three questions are now being worked to answer the president’s call, to ensure that we sail through the free Hormuz Strait.”

I ongoing war with Iran led to the successful closure of the Strait of Hormuz, causing energy prices to rise worldwide. European energy costs have not recovered from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine four years ago.

Although the speech of Mr. Trump has cooled recently on Greenland, an independent island territory controlled by Denmark, and there are no indications that he plans to back down on his demands for NATO to strengthen defense operations in the Arctic region. Earlier this year, the Netherlands expressed its support for Denmark regarding Greenland, emphasizing Greenland’s right to decide its own future.

As for the UK, Mr. Trump earlier this month called British Prime Minister Keir Starmer “no Winston Churchill” over Starmer’s refusal to join the war in Iran.
