Costco is making a bold move into child care.
The members-only retailer announced last Monday that it will begin offering fertility treatments at a deep discount to customers through a new nationwide partnership with healthcare providers.
The program brings together telehealth provider Sesame and fertility clinic IVI RMA in North America to provide a range of services, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg freezing and intrauterine insemination (IUI).
Most notably, the service will reduce significant out-of-pocket costs for reproductive care, providing savings of up to 80% on medications, including Follistim, which can cost about $2,000 per cartridge. As a result, patients can save thousands of dollars per cycle.

The company says the program is designed to break down one of the biggest barriers to care for the 1 in 6 Americans who suffer from infertility, making fertility treatments more accessible than ever.
“Our partnership with Sesame and IVI RMA demonstrates our commitment to transparent and affordable solutions that reduce barriers, are more accessible, and more affordable for our members,” said Richard Stephens, senior vice president of Pharmacy at Costco. “By combining transparent pricing with targeted care, we are removing the barriers that have been keeping quality medical care out of reach for far more families.”

The program and specially negotiated discounts are only available to Costco members, who pay a membership fee to access the store and its offerings.
This program is available nationwide and can be accessed online.

The program includes Sesame’s direct access to telehealth for treatment planning, IVI RMA North America’s specialty clinics for medical procedures, and a Costco pharmacy to fill needed medications.
With Sesame, patients can complete screening and diagnostic interactions, allowing doctors to plan a personalized treatment plan.
If patients need specialized procedures such as IVF or IUI, they are connected to IVI RMA clinics where discounts have been negotiated for Costco members.

The IVI RMA network also provides preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-A), single embryo transfer, embryo preservation, and specialized fertility care for LGBTQ+ patients.
