Arab states are dangerously short of mediators to slow down missiles fired at Iran, officials say

Arab states in the Persian Gulf are dangerously short of connectors to reduce Iranian missilestwo district officials told CBS News. Governments in the region have asked the US to speed up innovation, and have been told that officials in Washington are forming a task force to do so – but it is not happening as quickly as needed.

In a statement provided to CBS News on Thursday night, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said that “Iran’s retaliatory ballistic missile attacks” have decreased by 90% because the joint US-Israeli attack “destroys” Iran’s “ability to fire these weapons or produce more.”

“President Trump is close to all of our regional partners, and the terrorist regime of Iran’s attack on its neighbors proves how important it was for President Trump to end this threat to our country and our partners,” Kelly said.

The three regional officials also acknowledged that communication is a challenge since, even after more than a year, President Trump has not sent ambassadors to many countries, including Lebanon, Jordan and Qatar.

Due to the lack of appointments or slow confirmations, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait are among the places that do not have a presidential representative in the country and rely on a charge d’affaires.

Amer Ghalib, former mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan, was appointed ambassador to Kuwait but weaknesses during confirmation hearings for questioning about his antisemitic and incendiary social media posts.

The National Security Council and the State Department are also understaffed compared to previous administrations, leaving fewer points of contact. The delegates of Mr. Trump, Steve Witkoff again Jared Kushneryou can’t manage the affairs of the country.

In addition to the missiles fired by Iran, Kuwait has also come under fire from neighboring Iraq, where the military has fired missiles and drones at civilian areas.
